Speaking of bursts and the mechanics of firing automatics, I'd like to take a moment to talk about Semi-Auto firing.

One of the most fun (and effective) ways of shooting with any semi-automatic or automatic weapon, be it a pistol, a rifle, an SMG or LMG, is the double-tap. Double-tap shooting relies on always firing two rounds extremely rapidly and then letting the gun align for the next two shots. I'd love for a system that makes this kind of shooting possible in a game aswell, but alas it's always either spraying, tapping once with 2 second intervalls or tapping as quickly as you can to empty your mag.

They way I figure it could work (with semi-autos) is through giving the first two shots fired (within a short time) almost the exact same accuracy/no decay and then go south from there. It wouldn't be an instant death technique, but a more accurate and careful aiming alternative to the often heard "tap tap tap tap trap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap *reload* tap tap trap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap *reload, repeat* " sound of semi-automatic combat in TS.

Yeah pistols had no armor penetration, I don't think we want to go that route. I don't know exactly how the damages will be done and I can't really venture a guess right now, we'll just have to wait and see I think.

I don't know why you guys are arguing with each other about usability, that's my job. The game will be easy for a new player to get in to, but also fun enough for people to play it for a while. End of story.

Of course that's ideal, it just might be easy to get a little carried away with this part:

The game will be easy for a new player to get in to,

Liam Neeson voice: You must be mindful of the balance - and who you're making this game for. You can't make a game for everybody. Not even for all shooter players; there are too many different kinds.

And if you try to please everyone - the pro players, the cod players, the 12 year olds who apparently need classes to be able to play a game, the bad players who blame the game for their badness, the stylish people, the un-stylish people - if you try to make them all happy, you won't make anyone happy.

Look man, let the game designer do the usability. It'll be easy to get in to and fun because that's what my job as a game designer is to do. You'll just have to trust me on this one.

You're worried that I'll simplify some important game mechanic that you love into something that's shitty just so that new players can get in to it. Well I might just do that and if I do then you can cry to your grandma because the real men make games that are enjoyable for everybody. But chances are I won't have to do that because I think the core elements of TS are easy for everybody to understand, they just need some refining and presentation.

Don't ask us not to forego civility and then bring the blah blahs and grandmothers in.

We do have to trust you. We also have to make suggestions, because just like everybody else, game devs do not think of everything, and they do make mistakes.

I think the core elements of TS are easy for everybody to understand, they just need some refining and presentation.

Haha sorry, I guess that was a bit too far.

The right time to remind me of a mistake is during development when I make a design choice you don't like.

I'm going to be straight with you: it looks like you're the kind of person I do not want making suggestions for this game.

At least misan actually put a modicum of thought into her posts.
