I like Antagonist's deal.

Allow a person to 'highlight' one of the 'powerups'. Said powerup will slowly fill up while highlighted. If you switch to a different powerup, it will pause where you left it and start filling up the newly-highlighted powerup.

This way, if you survive long and don't spend/waste your powerups, you can save all the powerups for a special fight against the resident pr0fin. :)

Also having it shit you pick up in the level is bad, people might pick it up without realizing it or without knowing what it means and then not know why their shit keeps changing.

And switching them out while alive is fucking dumb for a game this fast, which relegates it to menu stuff and not to toot my own horn but that kinda just gets back to my idea.

Meters are fun and all, bu lets not forget that not only you can activate things such as slow mo. Wouldn't it become hectic if everyone was switching slow-mo on and off?

In TS I always had a feeling that I'm walking into a fight that is already in slow-mo but I'm still not.

This brings the idea that the slow-mo effect could only be felt in a pre-defined radius or only the players that have a direct line of sight with the starter of the slow-mo would be affected.

Isn't this how it worked in TS?

Also by forcing players to only have one ability, players must make a choice that will translate into how they play the game, much like loadout forces players to think about their overall gameplan. You have slow-motion, but the other players will have speed, health regeneration, and the ability to fuck you up with melee attacks. Or maybe there will be melee-oriented players who use health-regen as a way to tank. Players can experiment with different loadouts and abilities, giving a degree of tinkering for those looking for more than a mindless shooting game.

Which is what this game should be at heart, mind you. But we can draw in more players who want that kind of thinking/planning game.

A pickup that you gain from killing a person with metered bars, though, sounds kinda awesome, that you can use regardless of your selected ability.

Haha. There can be a "steal your meter" mechanism where you steal a guy's meter energy when you kill him.

I dunno, it's kinda half baked though.

What about if you kill someone with a full meter, you get a full meter in return, and only during then. Not only that, players with a full meter have an "aura" around them to mark that they have it and will be a natural target. It could even be set to where players will see this aura through walls, so they'll always know where they can pick up full meter.

Players who are good enough to have 2 or 3 bars of meter would only benefit slightly from the boost, but bad players/players who just spawned would benefit immensely.

I think snatching meter it's an appropriate replacement for getting a bunch of more point by killing the Specialist.

People with full meters could be marked with yellow glowing auras to make them targets.

Actually I think all this will just encourage people to use their meters more quickly and the whole thing would go kaput.

I think something more subtle would be better. I think that when someone has a full meter, the Duke Nukem soundtrack could start playing or something, and the guy would receive sunglasses and blonde hair (super saiyan).

I don't think there should be any indicator of how much meter an opponent has. That's his business. (personally)

Maybe when you kill someone you get a percentage of however much meter they had when they died.

Well in blops, when you kill a guy who has a chopper gunner killstreak reward, you don't get it do you? I don't think you should get a guy's meter. : (
