Special effects

Postby Antagonist » Sun May 29, 2011 4:17 pm

Just found a video clip with just the right type of special effects. Imagine how cool this would look:

Also the video is funny as hell.

Not sure how I feel about the muzzle flashes and gore but the smoke looks spot on, it'd be cool to have particle effects be animated like that.

edit: I have no idea how to do that.

I think we need exaggerated blood quantity, but realistic appearance. Video related.

Little late to this thread but that first video did have a great look to it, love the smoke trails and clouds, maybe tone the blood down a bit and the muzzle flashes, they looked nice ibn this vid but you wanna still be able to see whats going on without having to swim through a pool of red oceans whilst being blinded by flashes everywhere, I dunno, I guess it depends on how it looks, it may end up looking over the top, but then over the top may be what fits in the end, who knows.

One thing I always loved from AvP and I think Syphon Filter had it, bloody bullet holes/wounds in the place that the person had been shot etc, not sure what can be done with the engine you decide to use, but I figured I'd just throw it out whilst we're on the subject of blood and guts!

Having blood splatter on the screen would be also cool occasionally, as long as it isn't overly intrusive or overdone.

Yeah bros. What about all this? Feels like we could benefit from some more gore.
