flavor ideas/game personality

I was thinking, this game is kind of lacking on identity, in terms of presentation. I decree that this thread shall be used for ideas on how to make it more "Action Movie."

For example, I think we should have a short credit roll at the end of each map, listing the players in the server in roles such as "The Specialist" (most stunt frags), "The Killer" (most kills), "Hard Boiled" (Most time spent with active meter), "Hard To Kill" (longest life) and whatnot, perhaps showing the associated statistic next to their name in parenthesis.

ex:
Double Action

Cast:

The Specialist: Thin Red Paste (21 stunt kills)

The Killer: Dementei (37 kills)

Hard Boiled: Vino (skill active for 15:42)

Hard to Kill: Wish (survived for 12:39)

If we wanted to make that really extra cool, it should be after a replay of the last kill of the match from a third person perspective, freezing on the final gunshot (with the muzzle flash visible) and fading to black with music playing.

Also, I think we should implement a scoring system beyond the simple KDR. Each thing that gives you style meter should have an associated point value, and the scoreboard should be arranged by style point totals.
Fuck this shit, I'm going to bed.

I like it, I LIKE IT ALL except maybe the the scoring system bit. I can see something past the basic KDR, but basing it on style pointz will bring a whole new slew of balancing between styles that we'd have to work out. It's kinda in the same vein of kills anyway though, because more kills = more points, and I don't think we could make points outweigh kills that much. What I'm trying to say is, it could work.

You would have to be pretty vigilant for exploits if you wanted to use style points as the deciding factor. However, a tf2 styled tally of each of your style moves on the score card would be nice if that's the way you went. If you did it that way, you could reuse the GUI background and have something like the player rankings on the left hand page and the player's style move breakdown on the right hand page. The only problem would be lack of transparency.

Really TRP's idea needs to be in the regular scoreboard as well.

I don't know if we want to wait at the end of the map like that though, seems like players would want to get it over with and progress to the next map. Everyone always skips the L4D credits.

I like the idea of a constant leader board.
It kind of reminds me of Mario Kart with the 1st, 2nd 3rd . . . given, I think we'd need to add some spice to that - i think it'd add a neat flare to the game with the right art and verbiage.
kind of death-race-y

also, kudos: i tihnk were lacking some 'unique' flavor/personality too.
not to say what we have isn't unique, or that the content isn't unique, but moreso a ... branding . . .of sorts
