Name + Gameplay = confusion. If you had a different name or different gameplay, like a strict military shooter, I don't think I would have jumped to the conclusion I did. Sorry if I came off as accusing. I had no idea if you were or not intentionally.

Imagine if the AHL guys made a version of AHL and called it Stuntmen Specialists or something. Old fans of the Specialists would easily assume it was tied to the mod the Specialists. Intentional or not. Just caught me off guard.

You're the only one who made the AHL connection. I don't think it will be a problem. If the AHL team doesn't like the name, they'll tell us. Don't speak for them.

No. I'm not the only one:

I saw that thread after I noticed the Name Change title.

And I'm absolutely not speaking for the AHL guys. I'm speaking as somebody who came in here as an AHL fan who was confused by your title. That's it. I was only pointing out that it could turn into a problem. Not telling anybody what to do. Sheesh.

To be fair, anything similar either in gameplay or in name to Action Half Life, Opera or The Specialists is inevitably going to remind people people of those mods, look at Distraction, same style of divey, shooty gameplay, everyone was comparing it to AHL and TS before it died due to a lack of interest from both the community and some of the mod team IIRC.

I think it's good that there is multiple teams working on a game like this..or used to work on.

Just means it's a slightly popular genre, you will always have comparisons and similarities.
As long as the team stays true to their own vision, they have nothing to fear.
They're doing fine in that department so far.

While people on both sides of this debate are making good points I don't think it's a productive topic in general. If the action half life people think da is overstepping any bounds I'd be happy to talk with them about it. If they want to help us make da then that would be the best of both worlds. In the meantime I'm locking the thread, let's focus our energies on positive things :)
